Gabriella Ciancimino proposes Vedute con Fiori (Views with Flowers), a collaborative work for the Biennale Bénin 2012, "Inventing the World: The Artist as Citizen", curated by Abdellah Karroum. The project idea is to create a connection between the different landscapes of the world through collective action in which the citizen becomes an artist, transforming public space into the space of artistic intervention. Gabriella Ciancimino invites people to create an origami flower and photograph it in your landscape, urban or not. The inclusion of this element ecologically changes the vision of everyday places, creating an unusual and invented view, of which landscape you are part of. For the realization of these paper sculptures, she proposes to use a page of text: any author, style, genre (from the essay to the text of a song), whose argument is connected to the theme of the project. The page that has to be transformed into a flower can be either original or photocopied in black and white, on colored paper or decorated by you. For those unfamiliar with the origami technique, the artist made these tutorial video to create simple models of flowers. Once you make the origami sculpture, the second step is inserting it into the landscape in any way deemed interesting and fun. Choose a view, put it in a view the partecipant’d like to tell with a photographic image or a short video, using the means at own disposal. Along with the list of participants and the bibliography of selected books, the images will be printed on paper for the exhibition "Inventing World: The Artist as Citizen" and the video will be posted on the website R22 dedicated to Benin Biennale 2012.
