R22-Amman / AUTOSTRAD LIVE REHEARSALS (archive) //
LIVE from Amman

Yazan and Autostrad in Amman

Amman, the Jordanian capital, is an intriguing city that is satiated with contrasts. With a unique blend of old and new, the city is situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley.

Overlooking the heart of Amman stands Darat al Funun, a not-for-profit art institution founded in 1993. Darat al Funun has come to realize its vision of bringing together various forms of artistic expression while revealing the dynamism of contemporary ideas and art practices. Artists are invited to develop, research, produce and present their work within the spaces of the institution.

Six young Jordanian musicians formed the band ‘Autostrad’ in 2007. Combining sounds inspired from world music while using Jordanian local slang, Autostrad aims to introduce a new local genre to the music scene as opposed to the more dominant genre - the Traditional Song. The group’s first album "Yazan Al Rousan in Autostrad" gained a wide fan base among the Jordanian youth due to its innovative correspondence to their daily life.

R22-Amman brings Autostrad LIVE from their rehearsals at Darat al Funun.
